Vote to Bring DM Albums™ to WordPress 3.0 December 31st, 2009

Dear Community,

We here at Productions have been working hard to respond to your requests to add features that you, our users, would like to see in our products. This is particularly true of DM Albums, which has grown from being a small embed-only album to being a tool that is fully integrated with WordPress, allowing for photo album management directly from within WordPress – giving uploading, caption editing, and even drag-n-drop photo sorting directly via the WordPress post editor. In addition to that, the DM Albums™ Options Panel allows you to customize the tool extensively, while the UI is CSS-driven, allowing for customization of the album’s appearance to fit your blog’s look.

If you like DM Albums, Productions would like to ask you to visit the WordPress forums and vote to have DM Albums™ become the standard photo gallery tool for WordPress 3.0.  Through the added support from the WordPress development community, DM Albums™ would benefit from a larger developer base, more formalized integration and better compatibility with all flavors and versions of WordPress.  This effort would also help bring in the development resources to implement the three most urgently-needed features: vertical thumbnails, a visual UI editor, and internationalization.

Productions would like to thank you for your support, for using our products, and for providing us with your feedback.  Without your support and ideas, the product would not have grown into the mature photo album management system that it is today.

Thank you, and we wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year.

I am using v2.3.1 on a reunion website. Up until about a week ago everything was working OK. Today I uploaded a new folder of pictures. Still OK. But, when I went to edit and add captions, as soon as I hit the save button the captions disappear. The caption option is set to Yes. Can you help?

  2. frank says:

    @Allen Harp
Boy, I’m not sure what to say about that. Are you editing the captions directly when viewing the album, or are you using the DM Albums Detail Manager? The detail manager should be a much more reliable way of working with the albums.

Let me know and I’ll continue to help troubleshoot.

What’s the update. Be really nice to have DM Albums the default gallery on WP. Hope it’s not too late. going to vote now.

This is exactly the kind of photo plugin I had been looking out for. Would be really great to have it as a default photo gallery in WordPress. Thanks for such a great plugin. Heading to vote for it right away..

Dm Album would be one of the greatest plugin featuring WP 3.0… even though you should probably make it create less code instead of the km that it produces actually. It could be my host server so slow, but… the final code your plugin writes it’s endless.
Anyway, DM Album works so great and it’s both intuitive and well-featured.

  7. Hello,

I would love to see a widget for the sidebar to display random pics from random galleries.

    That would be real cool.

    Hello,
after instaling DM Albums 2.4.8 can’t see and add picture description (in browse.cap description is, but not in the site and in the DM Albums Gallery Manager).
Is any Idea ? I reinstall 2.4.7 but it doens’t help.

  10. I really like this plug in… if I could get it to work. Please help. I am unable to create an album. Everything loads ok (seemingly) but then nothing. I checked permissions and that looks fine. I’ve tried creating an album AND renaming files with no spaces and all lower case… nothing. Can you offer any assistance?

  11. Ty says:

Hi, I like the plugin. But, when I create a caption for a photo in the admin, and then open the Manage Album Details box, the caption is no longer visible. It just says Undefined, though the caption is still on the site.
Is there another place to edit the captions?
Any idea what’s going wrong? I tried reuploading the plugin. Didn’t help.
    Thanks.

  13. DM Album appears to be a very nice album plugin. There are two features that would make it my choice for my website: 1) it needs to support comments on individual pictures, and 2) it needs to offer a “subscribe to comments” selection on each picture so a user will get an email each time a comment is submitted on a particular picture.

  14. Allison says:

    Hi,

DM Album seems really cool – but I can’t get albums to appear within posts. I am using WP 3.0.5 and any time I “insert” an album, all that appears is the code

    Slideshow:

    Fullscreen:

The only way I have found to make the plugin semi-operable is to insert a photo into a post, and link the image to the gallery location. Is the plugin not operable at all with in-blog posts in version 3.0.5 or is there a trick I’m missing?

The gallery looks great and I’d love to have this working for the my blog’s launch.

    Thanks,
    Allison

  15. Mitch says:

There is a lot of people reporting that DM Albums does not work with 3.X and it is clear that the WP community would like it updated for 3.X on.
Maybe charging for the Plugin would be in order I would pay $10 for it if it works How about everyone else what do you all think?

  16. frank says:

    @all
We are releasing a full update to version 3.0 this weekend…please stand by.

  17. Jos Saris says:

    Hi,

Since the last update to DM Album version 3.1.2. I only see [Slideshow] and [Fullscreen] but no more pictures.

Can you tell me how I get my pictures back.

By the way. I have in the most post on my blog Google Maps at the end of every post.
Before this update 3.2.1. the Google Maps in my post where not visible anymore (after upgrading from 3.0 to 3.1.). After the update > 3.2.1. they showed up again?

    Another question:
Is there a simple way to install galleria as plugin in WordPress?

Thanks in advance for your answer to my problem/question.

    Kinds regards,

    Jos Saris

  18. Brett Simms says:

The most recent updates for DM Album (3.1.5) and WordPress (3.3.2) don’t seem to jive for us either. We lost all the pics from our page, although the short code seems to be correct. Any idea what’s going on?
