Common DM Albums™ Issue Support September 15th, 2012

First of all, I’d like to thank all the users of DM Albums; its a pleasure to see the plugin’s use so widespread. It is my regret, however, that my limited time prevents me from addressing many of the support requests that come in.

To that end, and in the spirit of the open community, I’d like to address two of the most common issues reported. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce the conditions on my own servers and lack the resources and time to set up environments for testing that show similar errors. If anyone has seen these issues and has resolved them, please share them here and I will do my best to incorporate the fixes into the code base or include the solutions in the FAQ.

Missing & Disappearing Uploads

The most common report I get is that all files upload via the DM Albums™ Album Manager but once the upload completes, the album does not appear in the list. Various iterations in the code base have reduced the frequency with which this happens, though reports continue to come in that the problem persists in some setups. It is not clear to me what causes this since I’m not able to reproduce the situation myself and don’t have full system access to an environment that does.

Albums Don’t Appear in Post or Page

This problem is almost always caused by a conflict in the JQuery library used in your theme and the one required by DM Albums. There are some configuration options described before which may help, but a comprehensive fix has not been identified at this time.

My goal is to provide the best and most stable plugin possible with the time and resources I have available; if anyone has tips, tricks, or has fixed these issues in their own copy of DM Albums, please let me know.

Thanks!

DM Albums™ 3.1.4 March 6th, 2012

We released an update to DM Albums™ yesterday which includes two new settings in the DM Albums™ Admin Panel: Transition Effect and Transition Time:

Transition Effect will change the transition between photos from SLIDE to FADE. In the slide setting (default), photos slide in from the left, which in the fade mode, one photo fades into the other.

Transition Speed is measured inĀ millisecondsĀ and adjusts how quickly this transition occurs; the default of 400 is a good place to start, but you can slow it down or speed it up if you’d like.

DM Albums™ Customization February 14th, 2012

A few questions have come our way regarding the sizing and styling of DM Albums, which I thought I would answer here.
